Md. Enamul Haque is a seasoned banking professional with over 36 years of diversified experience, including more than two decades in the banking sector of Bangladesh. Recognized for his expertise in corporate financing—particularly in the Ready-Made Garments (RMG) sector—foreign exchange operations, and strategic branch management, he has built a distinguished career marked by leadership, regulatory compliance, and portfolio excellence.
Born on January 21, 1966, in Jessore, Bangladesh, Mr. Haque completed his early academic journey at the prestigious University of Dhaka, earning a B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. in Statistics in 1989 and 1990 respectively. He later pursued an MBA in Finance from the same university in 2009, achieving a CGPA of 3.60. Demonstrating his commitment to continuous professional development, he also obtained an LL.B. degree under the National University in 2018. His academic background in statistics and finance has significantly strengthened his analytical capabilities in credit risk assessment and financial decision-making.
Mr. Haque served as Senior Executive Vice President and Branch Manager of the Gulshan Branch of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC until his retirement on January 20, 2026. Prior to this role, he successfully managed the Motijheel Branch, where he also supervised large corporate credit portfolios. Before joining Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, Mr. Haque held senior corporate banking positions at The Premier Bank PLC, where he managed a Tk. 4000 crore RMG credit portfolio and played a key role in credit assessments, Board presentations, and monitoring of export-oriented clients. His earlier banking experience at Southeast Bank PLC involved overseeing foreign exchange operations and structuring credit facilities in compliance with Bangladesh Bank regulations and international trade standards such as UCPDC 600 and ISBP.
Prior to entering the banking sector, Mr. Haque gained valuable industry exposure in export-oriented manufacturing units, serving in commercial leadership roles at Medlar Group, Rafty Apparels Ltd., and Excelsior Shoes Ltd. These positions enabled him to develop in-depth expertise in L/C management, buyer negotiations, and export-import operations within 100% export-oriented RMG and manufacturing industries.
