Founder & CEO of Versatile Finance & Management Associates (VFMA), Md. Abdul Matin, has extensive experience in financial management. During more than 28 years of banking career, Matin has played an integral role in streamlining Credit Risk Management (CRM) process of some leading commercial Banks like Eastern Bank and Dhaka Bank as Senior Executive Vice President and Head of CRM.
Matin also worked / contributed in the business transformation and centralization process of Prime Bank while he was entrusted with the responsibility of Senior Vice President & Unit Head of Corporate & Institutional Banking (C&IB). Matin was the Head of the Bank’s Foreign Exchange Branch before being assigned to C&IB. He was also the Head of Prime Bank’s Export Finance Unit under Corporate Banking Division, demonstrating his versatility as a banker.
Matin served as Deputy Managing Director (DMD) and Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of SBAC Bank PLC over his roughly three decades of expertise in various banking roles. Matin joined as DMD and Chief Credit Officer (CCO) following the National Bank’s Board of Directors reform by Bangladesh Bank. As a member of the Senior Management Team, he made significant contributions to the development of several policies as part of the strategic reform program.
Matin has an extensive expertise and wealth of knowledge in Credit Risk Management (CRM),Corporate Banking, Trade finance and Non Performing Loan(NPL) management. As a result, he has demonstrated the capacity to recognize market trends and create all-encompassing business plans that are in line with credit requirements.
Matin did MBA in Management from the Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka. He achieved his Bachelor(Hons) and Master’s in Accounting from University of Dhaka. Under the Comilla Education Board at that time, he earned the 12th position from Commerce Group in the 1990 HSC Examination Merit List.
Matin also completed “Certified Expert in Risk Management (CERM) program jointly conducted by Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, Germany and Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM), Dhaka. Matin is the author of “Credit Operations & Risk Management in Commercial Banks,” a book that greatly aids a variety of banking industry experts in expanding their understanding of credit risk management.
Matin is associated with Different clubs and Alumni. He is the life member of Accounting Alumni, University of Dhaka, Cadet College Club Limited and Old Cadets Association of Sylhet (OCAS).
In order to expand his professional skills, Matin has taken part in numerous training courses on various banking topics both domestically and overseas as he has climbed the corporate ladder.
